rain + light: alchemy of a rainbow 💧 ☀️

I remember when I first learned about the perspective shift from what became known as the "Dark Ages" into "The Age of Enlightenment".

The point that always stood out to me was about the loss of a 'magical perspective'... I remember the professor saying that people began to honor the analyzing of parts more highly than the mystery of the whole. For example, the phenomenon of a rainbow became less mysterious and seemingly miraculous in peoples' minds when it was recognized that it is simply water droplets and light.

But what else have we lost in our release of the mystery?

I think we have lost our unbridled joy.

I see it in our disdain for imagination. Sure, we "appreciate" the capacity in kids, but for adults the term "imaginary" connotes an unworthy and unproductive way to spend your precious mental energy.

But did you know that when we create from joy and imagination, the results are far longer-lasting and transformative than when we create from will and toil?

The beautiful (and relieving) thing is that we never truly lose our capacity to imagine and experience joy. We can absolutely dull our senses and banish imagination to the realms of anxiety so that its only function is to make vivid our fears...

...but we ALWAYS have the power to call joy and imagination back to their rightful place of dignity in our lives.

And the truth is - rainbows are SO much more than only rain + light... and knowing its alchemy doesn't diminish the awe of its presence!

Have you ever SEEN an unexpected rainbow?
They stop you in your tracks!

People gather to take photos because they remind us of magic and mystery and the hope that comes after storms.

This morning, I was delightfully interrupted by a family of tiny goldfinches outside my office window.

Some Native Americans see the Goldfinch as a symbol of unbridled joy, inspiration, motivation, and positivity. The song of the Goldfinch can represent self-expression. And in some tribes, it portends prosperity or liberation - the ability to be yourself without constraint.

In fact, there are legends about the Goldfinch in Christianity, ancient Egypt, and other cultures that all associate this striking bird with sacred joy, abundance, and a reminder that our souls are held by the divine.

Today, I challenge you to lean into your sacred imagination, and give yourself permission to reclaim an unbridled joy.

Rainbows are more than only rain + light.

And if you choose to be curious about the stories creation is telling you, something stunning and inspiring will always be made available to you.

May you be delightfully encountered
by unbridled joy today.

With gratitude,

are you 'ecologically bored'?

I was first introduced to the concept of 'rewilding' when I was alone, in pain, and afraid of what was next. But I was committed to showing up for whatever "it" was - every day.

On this particular day, I remember feeling resistant to journaling but still wanting to honor my commitment to leaning into growth.

I stared down at the TED app on my phone, and searched the world "wild".

The title of this talk instantly caught my eye:

"For more wonder, rewild the world."

Ooooohhh.... something about the world 'rewild' sank deep into my spirit.
I was already hooked.

I emerged from my reflection that day with a different kind of resolve.
I knew what I wanted to create in my world,
and for once I knew it was possible.

If you haven't seen this TED talk by George Monbiot, I highly recommend you take the time to watch it. I have highlighted below the 7-ish minutes that capture the example that felt the most powerful and pivotal for me - the story of what happened at Yellowstone National Park when they reintroduced the wolves.

My favorite part: the wolves even changed
the behavior of the rivers! 😮

In this excerpt from his TED talk, "For more wonder, rewild the world", George Monbiot tells the powerful story of the trophic cascade that rewilded Yellowstone National Park in the 1990s. Rewilding tells us a story of hope.

If you are bored with the barren ecosystem in your own soul...

If you are longing for the songbirds to return to the landscape of your life...

If you are willing to dare to see what surprising, wild, beautiful, alive transformation your own life could produce...

This is your sign: show up for yourself.
Answer the wild call.

Listen to your inner brilliance.

what is your wild calling?

Photo by Andrey Zvyagintsev on Unsplash

Have you felt a persistent call toward
something greater in your life?

Not necessarily broader, but deeper.

Not necessarily louder, but resounding with more truth.

Not necessarily more visible, but more valuable.

When something wild is calling to us, we can't un-hear its call...though that doesn't mean we may not try.

We come up with all kinds of reasons not to listen - and most of them are limiting beliefs:

  • I'm not rich enough for that

  • I don't have enough education for that

  • This idea is too absurd

  • I don't deserve that kind of freedom

  • How could someone like me have that kind of impact in the world?

It all comes down to fear.

I think Marianne Williamson had the right idea when she said,

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.

Our deepest fear is that
we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.

We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be
brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’

Actually, who are you not to be?

You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.

There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.

We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest
the glory of God that is within us.

It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine,
we unconsciously give other people
permission to do the same.

As we are liberated from our own fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.
— Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

So...what if you listened to the wild call in your life?

Take a risk. Give yourself permission to shine.

Because the truth is - none of your justifications or avoidance will silence the call. And often the voice of truth in you that is denied only howls louder to be heard.

This is your sign: show up for yourself.
Answer the wild call.

To living whole & wild,

indomitable hope.

A friend recently told me that I have
indomitable hope.

The phrase stopped me in my tracks....because it felt like the words I have always searched for to describe the way I carry my hope.

in·dom·i·ta·ble | adj: incapable of being subdued : unconquerable

Have you ever been stood with so fiercely that you can't help but expand your own belief in yourself?

That is the kind of space I have to offer you.

Research shows that transformation without a safe container is experienced as terror. In fact, that's why so many of us are feverishly committed to our smallness. The idea of becoming new can be terrifying.

But it doesn't have to be so scary.
I created REWILDED as a safe, powerful, hopeful space to hold your transformation.

It is a place to call back your imagination from the dark, where it has served only to enliven your fears.

Let's harness your incredible imagination - your ability to conceive of what does not yet exist - and let it lead you into a life of wild, fulfilling flourishing.

Let's awaken your dulled senses, and give them permission to come alive again.

Let's unearth your wild brilliance.

It is time to be REWILDED.

the REWILDED woman.

you know who you are…

I'm looking for the woman
who is ready to be rewilded

She has been feeling discontent for a while - has named it,
and is now ready to take action and do something about it.

She isn’t caught up in disguising it anymore.

She isn’t caught up in giving away her energy and authority anymore.

She is ready to stand in her power and create her life.

She is ready to embrace all of herself, call home the cast-out parts,
and live from the soulful, wise place within her.

She is no longer deceived by performance, avoidance, over-responsibility,
and false humility masquerading as the appearance of peace.

She is after the real thing,
and she deeply trusts the strength of her internal radar
to tell her when something is off.

She is the woman who is ready to face the rawness of her own wild.

aren't you ready to stop playing small?

Here's the thing...

You already know you were made for more than this.

Something in you has been calling out to you for attention... asking you to notice that the life you are experiencing isn't as full as you dream it could be.

...have you been afraid to name and see the barrenness in your life?
...because it is honestly just easier to just settle for the mere appearance of peace rather than the reality?

But you know.

You know that things are not really okay.

You know that if you chose with courage to turn and look at the fullness of your life, you would see the barrenness.. but you would also finally open up the pathway to the flourishing you've only dared to acknowledge in your dreams.

Something in you KNOWS.

Even if you can't explain it fully - you have been waiting for the time when you are ready to step into all you are made for.

Aren't you ready for your life to echo with resounding soul-thumping truth? Aren't you ready for the wild hopes that you have longed so deeply for to come into existence in your physical world?

I dare you to show up.

I dare you to stop playing small.

Listen to the parts of you that are asking you to see more.

Holding space for your wholeness,

make it sacred.

Do you believe that there is a sacredness in the everyday, but you just don't feel like you can access it?

Do you ever feel like life woke up earlier than you and pulled you out of bed into its flurry of activity and expectations before you even got a chance to say yes to your day... let alone found time to sit with the sacredness of the morning?

Sometimes the sacred feels so out of reach.

But I'm here to tell you it's not.

It's available to you in this moment...
And this moment...
And this one.

One of my favorite concepts is:

"growing smaller and smaller until
we take over the world"

What does that even mean?

To me, it means that even though we are so thoroughly marinated in a society dictated by the belief that "bigger/faster/more is better", our souls know something truer.

Our souls remember the deeper truth that we must access the holy that is already present in our everyday lives through the hush of often un-celebrated tasks, choices, functions, and moments.

The good news is you can start right now.
And you don't have to do it alone.

I have a challenge for you - I dare you look around your life and consider who or what is "in it" with you - who or what "has your back"? But I'm asking you to suspend your assumptions about what makes a worthy ally for a moment...because your most steadfast supporters might be found in unexpected places, like:

  • your trusty living-room chair that you can rely on to hold you as you collapse at the end of the work day

  • the aroma or steam from your warm drink that offers you a quick reminder that savoring is still available to you if you will slow down a moment and give yourself to it

  • the colorful sunrise painted across the landscape and reflected off the windows and puddles and ice that reminds you that the world is still beautiful...

  • your favorite water bottle or car air freshener or warm socks..

Anything in your life can be an ally -
silently supporting you toward wellness and aliveness.

I challenge you to look around your life today and tomorrow - and notice the unexpected allies that are always calling you to connect with
the sacred in your every day.

Just notice them, name them, and perhaps - say a silent thank you to them (or not-so-silent if you prefer!) for their faithful support of your flourishing - even on the days you haven't had the time or made the space yourself to be intentional.

(PS - one of mine is Sour Patch Kids!)

Are you longing for access to your whole, wild, vibrant self?
If you're absolutely ready to show up for yourself and claim your flourishing,
I'd love to work with you in 'REWILDED' - my 6-month personal coaching experience.

I create paradigm shifts.

I used to get a lot of flack for the way I carry my hope.

People told me all kinds of stories about how my hope was ignorant, unhelpful, naïve. And the thing is - there is absolutely toxic positivity out there. There is shallow avoidance of pain out there in the world masquerading as true hope. And it is very destructive.

But that's not the hope that I carry. It took me a while to realize that I was hitting so much resistance - not because people were accurately diagnosing a flaw in my perspective, but because people were afraid of my impact in their world. The truth is that when I show up in my power, I can be intimidating to anyone who is clinging to their old, tired stories.

The truth is, I create paradigm shifts.

True hope is not struggle-avoidant. It surveys the breadth of the struggle and pain, and sees beyond the struggle, or perhaps inside the struggle, to the life that is available within it, from it, because of it.

True hope sees that every part of you - including the parts most often villainized (perhaps even for good reason) - not only deserves a voice and place in your life, but is in fact a mandatory part of your own flourishing.

Without it, you will never access the depths you were made to experience, and you cannot know the fullest extent of freedom.

True hope says that you don't need to fear those parts - you can stop running from your shadow and dare to turn around and finally embrace your weariest, scariest members.
Because all of you was made for flourishing.
That's why I created the REWILDED journey.

Are you ready for a paradigm shift?
